Stainless Steel Balustrade Systems

At the heart of Seagull Balustrades’ systems are European 316-grade stainless steel posts. Available with either a satin or mirrored finish, each post is finished with high quality cast stainless steel base plates which cover fittings and help create a seamless look.

Team the sturdy baluster posts with our toughened glass infills or go, instead, for our stainless steel rods or tension wires.

Choice and flexibility

Whereas with many stainless steel balustrade systems you have a limited choice designs, choose ours and you’ll have a whole host of options;

  • Top rail or no top rail: Choose a system with a top rail for a more traditional look or go without for a minimalist, ‘barely there’ styling.
  • LED Handrail Lighting: Light up walkways, stairs, car parks, garden decks and terraces.
  • Posts: You’ve a choice of diameters for the posts (42.4mm / 48.3mm / 50.8 mm / 60.3mm)
  • Components: A wide selection of components and fixings is available. This enables a wide range of distinctive designs to be created
  • Height: We offer the balustrade system at heights anywhere between 900mm (for systems installed at ground level) and 2 metres (for privacy screens). Note: decks, balconies and raised areas of 600mm or more above ground level require an 1100 mm high handrail (if work is subject to building regulations)

Assembly

If you choose the DIY route, rest assured that our balustrade systems are designed for a quick easy fit. No welding is required. Installation is achieved with just bonding, drilling and, sometimes, tapping.

  • Clean, straight-cut stainless steel tube
  • Modular push-fit fittings that fit internally into the rail
  • Aerobic bonding technology (industrial grade high strength retainer)

Note: Stainless steel is a very hard material. Please ensure all safety precautions are followed, particularly when drilling, tapping and cutting.

Step 1: Assemble all parts ‘Dry’ prior to bonding together sawing tube

  1. Always ensure a straight cut using a suitable fixed blade saw.
  2. Use a suitable cutting fluid to prolong blade life.
  3. Remove all burrs after cutting the tube

Step 2: Bonding joints

  1. Apply a small bead of High Strength Retainer to the male insert part of the fitting.
  2. Insert fitting into the tube (or female fitting) and adjust to the desired position.
  3. Hold or clamp in position until bonded. Bonded in 10 to 30 minutes, fully cured in 24 hrs.

Step 3: Drilling and tapping the stainless steel tube

  1. Clamp tube securely in a vice or similar
  2. Mark tube with centre-punch.
  3. If possible, use cutting fluid.
  4. Drill holes using a suitable drill bit.
  5. Cut the thread with a thread tap. Remove excess swarf.
  6. Alternatively, use rivet nuts
